The days of relying solely on your golf professional for weekly lessons to elevate your golf game are gone. In this technology driven world, there are so many new gadgets and applications on the market that are designed to teach you new techniques that improve certain golf skills. From more accurate GPS and rangefinder apps to even giving you tips on how to perfect your slice; technology has become a vital part of your golf game. In fact, some of these apps can even tell you what club you need to use! With so many new apps on the market, how do you know which ones are best? Let’s dive into which apps are considered the best golf apps of 2019!

2019 R&A Rules of Golf App

I don’t know about you, but it can be hard to remember all of the little rules in golf. That’s why I use the 2019 R&A Rules of Golf app, the best golf rules app on the market. What makes it one of the best golf apps of 2019? It includes 30+ How-To videos and diagrams that explain the all the rules and can give you guidance the next time your boss swears it’s okay to take a few club lengths for cart path relief. This free app is available in over 10 languages and is widely used among amateurs and professionals.

18Birdies

If there is one app that does it all, it’s this one. From a GPS+ rangefinder to dream games and a growing community, you can have fun on, and off, the course with this app. It contains a digital score card, a stat tracker, and the ability to share rounds with your friends. There is even a premium membership for just $5/month where you can get access to discounts, advanced course stats, live weather information, and video lessons. Imagine using one tool to judge your distance, track your score and stats, brag to your friends, and make new ones!

Hole19

Looking for the best golf tips app that will actually help you improve your game? Hole19 is the app for you! With this free application you can track driving accuracy, putting stats, greens in regulation, and so much more.  By syncing with your Apple Watch, it gathers additional information that can be used to improve your game. This is considered the best golf tips app because you can visualize your stats and scorecards on your phone or laptop. Plus, the sharing feature lets you track your partners’ scores, and you can send everyone their scorecard by email after each round. What else does it need to be the best golf tips app? Not much! We are so impressed with everything this application can do.

TeeOff.com by PGA TOUR

Want to play where the professionals play? Then you need the best golf course app available - TeeOff.com by PGA TOUR. Teeoff.com has access to not only the golf courses in your neighborhood, but to PGA Tour played courses, the best golf destinations, and the “must play courses”. I think this is the best golf course app because offers over half a million golf tee times and special deals just for members. This free app does more than just tell you about the golf course, it gets you on the course. Being the best golf course app on the market, you can track your scores, get rewarded for playing with your group, track your handicap, and do all of this with no booking fees.

GolfShot

The Golfshot app boasts that it’s like having “a caddie to call your own,” and with all of the benefits it carries, I have to agree. GolfShot comes in first place as being the best golf rangefinder app because it packs a big punch with the benefits it offers. The real-time distances to all targets on over 40,000 courses worldwide are enough to make it the best golf rangefinder app on the market. However, you can also use this app as a digital scorecard, share tee time invites with your friends, and manage your handicap. There are  so many additional features that I can’t list them all, so you’ll have to check it out yourself. The added advantages of a 3D flyover preview on over 500,000 holes and on-the-spot club recommendations will take your game to the next level.

Tag Heuer

This one is for the iOS users because it’s, objectively, the not only the best-looking golf app on the market but the best golf gear app period. What makes it the best golf gear app? It stays with you, literally attached to you, while you play. Both its iPhone and Apple Watch apps are professionally designed with real-time updates to be newest and freshest. With 3D maps of 39,000+ golf courses, it enables your app to know exactly where you are and the terrain you face. Probably the biggest reason it is the best golf gear app, is that it goes a step further to suggest what club you should use and can save your rounds as workouts by linking with your Apple Health app. For me, this is the best golf gear app because it can do more than just improve my game, it can prove that I was actually just out exercising! Win-Win, right?

TheGrint

One of  the biggest features that makes this the best golf tracking app is that it lets you track your handicap for free. Who doesn’t love free? TheGrint provides a USGA registered club tracker that is valid for all USGA sanctioned events all at no cost to you. You can track your scores as you play, for those of us that never keep up with that tiny pencil, or you can use their scorecard picture service to upload a picture of your scorecard at the end of the round and TheGrint will transcribe your scores for you. With other features like their live leaderboard, you can track your play and the play of your teams, member-member groups, and more. You can even organize tournaments with their free “Tours Tool.” These are just some of the many reasons I consider this the best golf tracking app available.

We all know there are hundreds, if not thousands, of golfing apps between the iOS and Android markets but these are my picks for the best golf apps of 2019. With more apps getting built and added every day, I’m sure we will have a new list very soon for 2020. What are your favorite golfing apps? Tell us in the comments!
