After what has been an amazing season, it is almost playoff time concluding at the Tour Championship in Atlanta. It seems strange to be gearing up for the event so early in the year, however, with the last major complete, it does give us a great idea of who the on-form players are.

Therefore, there are two predictions that need to be made- the FedEx Cup winner and the Tour Championship winner. The FedEx cup winner looks to be shaping up to be a battle of the big hitters with Gary Woodland, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, & Brooks Koepka. All four of them are within touching distance to win the PGA Tour’s year-long title. However, it is difficult to look past the world number one: Brooks Koepka. Over the last few years, there has been nobody better and I think the number one player for the PGA Tour will be him.

That leaves the second question needing to be answered… and that is, who will win the Tour Championship? This is an extremely difficult question to answer, as all the top players will be playing 4 weeks back to back and all it takes is for someone to go on a run and find the confidence to win. However, Rory McIlroy does tend to play well at East Lake and if I was to put my money on anyone, it would be him! That bides the question, why I think Koepka will still manage to tip McIlroy for the year-long title. This is a simple answer. There is nobody in the world of golf who is better at grinding out a result, when needed, than Koepka. McIlroy may win the event, but it wouldn’t surprise me or I’m sure anyone, if Koepka did just enough to ensure him the Player of the Year title and the $10,000,000 that goes with it!

At the end of what has been an exceptional year in the world of golf, it has arguably been the greatest golf of all time. Let’s review: Tiger Woods winning another major at The Masters, the world’s best player Brooks Koepka winning yet another major, the fairytale story of Gary Woodland winning on Father’s Day just before announcing his wife is pregnant with twins, and finally after a 50 year wait for the Claret Jug to return to Ireland a home winner in the shape of “Super” Shane Lowry. Surely the finale to the PGA Tour season will not disappoint.
